Make social media work for you.
In the age of social media, affinity- the natural liking for someone/something, exists before we even share our first hello. Today, we follow each other on twitter, like an Instagram post, DM, or subscribe to their YouTube channel before we ever meet. Most times, there are numerous threads of affinity before you actually meet, if you even meet at all.
With what we like and dislike, we give and are given permission to make agreements and disagreements based strictly on affinity. Naturally, we gravitate and create influence to the people that we have the most in common with. This can build lasting relationships in which influence exists.
I’m NOT talking about the Law of Attraction.
You can think of it as having lots of friends that you have lots of influence with, but nothing much will change if you don’t take genuine and meaningful action to build those relationships.
I’m referring the Law of Magnetism.
Law of Attraction vs. Law of Magnetism
The Law of Attraction is the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into your life. The Law of Magnetism is the belief that who you are is what you attract; this includes not only thoughts but actions, perceptions and emotions as well.

Effective leaders are always on the lookout for good people. Take a second to think about it, Do you know who you’re looking for right now? What qualities do the people you follow and engage with on social media possess? Do you want them to be aggressive and entrepreneurial? Athletes? Creatives? Financially Savvy? Are you looking for leaders? Males or females? A certain age group or race?
WHO are you trying to reach?
What will determine if the people you want are the people you get? How do you know they will possess the qualities you desire?
What you get is not determined by what you want, it’s determined by who you are; like attracts like in character and commonality.
Thanks to social media today, we can have a head start. We can ascertain affinity before we even approach a person. When someone follows you on Instagram, follows your blog, or subscribes to your YouTube channel’ they are essentially saying ‘yes’ to you. That creates a powerful position to hold if you want to influence that person. They’re in a position of open-ness and moving forward.
The more 'yeses' you can get, the more likely you are to put the person in the mood to agree with you along the way. Getting to yes is so much easier if you start with yes. We have a obvious and positive position of opportunity to start dialogue from; talk to your followers, they’re following you for a reason.
We have a variety of opportunities to connect with people that are interested in who we are and what we have to say. There is little excuse for starting a relationship or conversation on the wrong foot.
Think of it as a snow fall: every individual flake doesn't mean a lot, but the body of work can change everything.
You have to offer them what they want in your communication if you want to begin and remain at 'yes'. Only then have you earned a level of trust that permits you to confidently offer others your pitch. This can be a product, service, or cause.
Do I want to spend my life watching what other people are doing? OR Do I want other people to watch?
What is the purpose of your Instagram,YouTube or Twitter? Is that reflected in your bio?
What are you getting out of social media that is going to help you reach your goals?
We spend hours of our weeks on social media; the least we can do is make is work for us.
Use social media in every way you can; the internet is one of the best FREE networking opportunities.
Interact with people that inspire you.
Interact with people that motivate you.
Interact with people that are in the same field you are or aspire to be in.
THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE LIMITLESS!
